Yvonne San Luis Design hired me to illustrate this piece for the Seattle Reads promotion of the book "My Jim" by Nancy Rawles. The art has been used for a poster brochure, book club reading guide and bookmarks . It was a wonderful to illustrate such a powerful story of love and loss."My Jim" is a powerful, moving novel, a harrowing account of slavery and a testament to the power of love and longing for freedom, survival of families and tradition. In "My Jim," author, Nancy Rawles re-imagines Mark Twain's "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" from the slave's perspective. The story follows Jim's family as they struggle to cope with his loss after his escape down the Mississippi.
